Paul Hiebert

Someone who has certainly had an impact on my life, primarily through his writings, has been that of Paul G. Hiebert. Dr. Hiebert died on March 11, 2007 of Cancer at the age of 74. Dr. Hiebert taught Anthropology and missions at Fuller Seminary from 1977-1990 , prior to his work at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. While at Fuller Seminary, Dr. Hiebert mentored my current mentor, Dr. Doug McConnell, thus, I am a missiological grandson of sorts. Anyways, the two works that have been particularly helpful to me have been, Anthropological Insights for Missionaries and Anthropological Reflections on Missiological Issues. Rest in Peace brother Paul.

  1. When I was doing my bachelor of divinty course at Union bilical seminary in Pune,India, he influenced me to become a cross cultural missionary.During my master’s degree in missiology, his teaching impacted me to be a missional trainer. I am grateful for his contributions.I praise God for his life and insights in missiology.

  2. Hiebert was my Doctoral Project mentor at Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois. He is the greatest scholar I have encountered in my accademic journey both in Nigeria and USA.The world and infact the church of God had lost a humble disciple of Christ. The good thing is that he has gone to be with the Lord.
