A SCANDALOUS AFFAIR

As I ponder this years Christmas, the snow is falling outside the window. I am fortunate that I am blessed enough to be sitting inside, with family and a warm fire to enjoy. I am mindful that for many people Christmas is a difficult time. How different the snow makes me feel this year. This … Continue reading A SCANDALOUS AFFAIR

My hero – Joseph

“When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife” (Matthew 1:24). I think there is something to be said for annual Christmas traditions focused on the Christmas story. While many are out appeasing the gods of consumerism, these neighbors are gathering together … Continue reading Blogging las Posadas (part 3)

As we set out, we found a familiar face walking … Continue reading Blogging las Posadas (part 2)

I had that same question last night after receiving an invitation from an older lady in our neighborhood to go and participate in an event on our street. She said the kids would really enjoy it as well. So we headed out towards where a … Continue reading Blogging Las Posadas

About the author

Unknown's avatarMy name is Greg Burch and I am on faculty at the Multnomah Campus of Jessup University where I teach and direct the Global Development and Justice (M.A.) program. After living and working for nearly a decade in Latin America (Venezuela and Costa Rica) I now focus on bridging together theory and practice around advocating for vulnerable children, poverty alleviation, and applied participatory research topics. In addition to my role at Jessup, I am also co-owner of Camino Quest, a travel company focused on supporting pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago in Spain. When I am not in the classroom or traveling, I love surfing at some of my favorite spots on the Oregon coast (or anywhere for that matter).
