Snow, Snow and More Snow

We have been enjoying our Oregon sabbatical together as a family. We have been at Christina's folks home here at the Oasis (www.lifeimpactoregon.org) in Sunriver now for about a week and a half and it has been snowing on most days. This has given our kids some great play days outside despite some very cold … Continue reading Snow, Snow and More Snow

Oregon tour moves to Klamath Falls

We arrived in Klamath Falls just prior to Thanksgiving and have been enjoying our time with my parents. Prior to our arrival here we spent the week in Portland and enjoyed some of our favorite hang out areas as we reconnected with new and old friends. One of our favorite spots is Multnomah falls. Tyler … Continue reading Oregon tour moves to Klamath Falls

America – Through the Eyes of a Child

Several months ago we decided that a trip to visit supporters and friends here in Oregon was needed, not to mention wanting to give Tyler and Kira the opportunity to see their cousins, uncles and aunts and grandparents. After a long trip on Wednesday we arrived in Portland. We almost did not get out of … Continue reading America – Through the Eyes of a Child

Tyler’s Art

Tyler's art was recently featured at an art show here in San José. We went downtown to the Costa Rican American Cultural Center where those who were up for awards were invited. It was a big deal. There were probably 25 private schools represented. Tyler didn't win, but still, just getting invited to the show … Continue reading Tyler’s Art

Burch Update

Just a quick update and some prayer requests from Costa Rica: The trimester at ESEPA seminary finished last week. I finished up two courses required for mission, pastoral and Christian education students. I felt very connected with the students and was able to make some church visits with some of them, encouraging them in their … Continue reading Burch Update

10 years and growing….

Christina and I are on the verge of celebrating ten years together. Thanks to our friends Randy and Dora for watching the kids, we just "snuck" away for a beach trip that we won't forget anytime soon. It has been an amazing adventure being married to Christina. Our first couple of years were spent in … Continue reading 10 years and growing….

Father’s Day

This past father's day was so awesome. Not only did Christina let me sleep in (which is a rariety in our family) but she made me an incredible breakfast and pretty much spoiled me all day. Tyler and Kira gave me some neat drawings and throughout the day told me how much they loved me. … Continue reading Father’s Day

Tyler and Kira enjoying life

This is a "jacuzzi" we have on our deck...now don't get to thinking we live in a resort. The jacuzzi hasn't worked for years! We have turned it into a kiddie pool for Tyler and Kira for those rare warm days up here on the mountain. Anyone want to come down and fix a jacuzzi?

Internet Fast

We have been in a new home now for nearly a month. Here are a few pictures of the place. We are up in the mountains east of San Jose. It has been a real refuge for us. We do not have internet connection at this point in case you are wondering why we have … Continue reading Internet Fast

About the author

Unknown's avatarMy name is Greg Burch and I am on faculty at the Multnomah Campus of Jessup University where I teach and direct the Global Development and Justice (M.A.) program. After living and working for nearly a decade in Latin America (Venezuela and Costa Rica) I now focus on bridging together theory and practice around advocating for vulnerable children, poverty alleviation, and applied participatory research topics. In addition to my role at Jessup, I am also co-owner of Camino Quest, a travel company focused on supporting pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago in Spain. When I am not in the classroom or traveling, I love surfing at some of my favorite spots on the Oregon coast (or anywhere for that matter).
