Camping with Tyler

In the midst of everything going on, Tyler and I snuck away for a camping trip just north of Malibu at Leo Carrillo State Park. This has become our family's getaway spot while living here in So. Cal. This was the first such trip for just Tyler and I. It was a great father/son time … Continue reading Camping with Tyler

Happy Birthday Tyler

Our Tyler turned 5 this month and had his birthday party last weekend. It's hard to believe our little guy has turned 5. Just tonight Christina and I sat outside watching him ride around on his bike, racing and crashing his way around the small playground area out front here at the Providence Mission Homes. … Continue reading Happy Birthday Tyler

Kira’s Big Birthday Bash

I am a little behind these days on my writing (well, actually, just about everything), but thought that Kira's birthday certainly deserves my attention. On February 17th Kira turned three years old. I can't believe how fast she is growing up! It seemed like just yesterday our little girl was born. She continues to be … Continue reading Kira’s Big Birthday Bash

A Sunriver Retreat

After a delicious Christmas meal and great time at my parents house in San Clemente, we hit the road at 3AM on December 26th for Sunriver, OR, where Christina's folks live and run a pastor and missionary retreat center. After a very long day, we arrived in Sunriver at about 8PM. The worse part of … Continue reading A Sunriver Retreat

The T-Ball Sagas

The coaching of the Orange Lions continues. . . If you haven't ever watched a group of 3 and 4 year-old's play T-ball, your missing out! Perhaps its because I'm the coach, but I am very impressed with this group of kiddos. One little player on the team is probably a future hall of famer. … Continue reading The T-Ball Sagas

Time for Baseball!

Tyler started T-ball this past week. Guess who the coach is? the whole experience kind of crept up on me. I never anticipated coaching, but given the need and a gentle nudge in the side by my loving wife, I volunteered. And you know what? I actually enjoy it!! Yesterday, one of my fellow coaches … Continue reading Time for Baseball!

About the author

Unknown's avatarMy name is Greg Burch and I am on faculty at the Multnomah Campus of Jessup University where I teach and direct the Global Development and Justice (M.A.) program. After living and working for nearly a decade in Latin America (Venezuela and Costa Rica) I now focus on bridging together theory and practice around advocating for vulnerable children, poverty alleviation, and applied participatory research topics. In addition to my role at Jessup, I am also co-owner of Camino Quest, a travel company focused on supporting pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago in Spain. When I am not in the classroom or traveling, I love surfing at some of my favorite spots on the Oregon coast (or anywhere for that matter).
